For over six years I have been running the Kilimanjaro Half Marathon Run which happens in Moshi. The date of the next Kilimanjaro Marathon is Sunday, 2 March 2014. For the first time ever, I want to sign up for the whole race -- a full marathon, which is 42 Km. Not only this, I also want to run for a reason -- to raise money to support primary education. This is a strong passion in my heart; for many years, I have been working with and for vulnerable children in Moshi. Vulnerable children are those who, for one reason or another, have parents/guardians who fail to pay the necessary costs for their education, such as school fees, uniforms, and meal fees.
My goal is to raise enough money to support at least 42 of these children to be able to stay at school for one year comfortably, enjoying their right of education. My running motto will be “One Kilometer, One Kid is in School.”
I will ask friends, family, and community in Moshi to support me through their donations to achieve this goal. Whoever is interested in this mission, please contact me for a detailed proposal.
Seit mehr als sechs Jahren laufe ich, John, jetzt schon den Halbmarathon beim Kilimanjaro-Marathon, der jedes Jahr in Moshi stattfindet. Der nächste Termin ist Sonntag, der 2. März 2014. Ich habe vor, mich zum allerersten Mal für das gesamte Rennen (Marathon, also 42 km) anzumelden. Mit meiner Teilnahme verfolge ich ein ganz bestimmtes Ziel: Geld zu sammeln, um die Finanzierung der Grundschulbildung für Kinder aus armen Familien zu unterstützen. Seit vielen Jahren arbeite ich jetzt mit und für diese Kinder, deren Eltern/Erziehungsberechtigte nicht in der Lage sind, die Kosten für eine Schulausbildung zu tragen; Kosten wie Schulgebühren oder solche für Schuluniform und Mahlzeiten.
Mein Ziel ist es, es mindestens 42 dieser Kinder zu ermöglichen, ein Jahr lang auf angemessene Weise zur Schule zu gehen und ihr Recht auf Bildung zu genießen. Mein Motto bei dem Lauf wird “Ein Kilometer, ein Kind in der Schule” lauten.
